OVERVIEW

Mandy Brooks was referreed to me by Prarie Sun Recording Studios, where she had recorded an amazingly soulful album entitled "Move On Up". Mandy is an amazing singer and songwriter, who really puts a lot of soulful deliberation into her songs. It was a pleasure creating a site that she could maintain herself and it was an extremely fun and energetic project to work on. I recommend buying her album. It's a gem!

MISSION

This project was a design-only project, as it was developed using the Wix platform. The goal was to create a digital presence where Mandy could promote and sell her albums. It was decided that the Wix platform would be the best, because Mandy wanted to be able to maintain the site herself in the future. Wordpress was also considered, but because it's learning curve is so steep, Mandy and I felt she would be better off using Wix. The Wix platform is extremely easy to get around in, and Mandy had prior experience in using Wix as well.

The end goal of the project is to distribute content as a digital clearing-house, from a wide variety of sources. This was a joy to program and is an ongoing project, because it involves a scheduling and road-show component, as well as video-broadcast production distribution strategies.

DEVELOPMENT NOTES

Mandy approached me shortly before her album was mastered, but she had done some photo sessions and I was able to get a full array of full-color photographs. She also supplied me with old news-photos, that I was able to scan for her About page.

After figuring out which ready made template would be best, I began to mock-up her website very quickly. We had the initial prototype done in about 10 days and fully deployed the site in about 3 weeks.

After she got me the text for the story layout, the rest was extremely easy and I really enjoyed working with Mandy as she is a laid-back, high-energy individual, who was extremely graceful and drama-free. It was totally refreshing to assist her in helping her achieve her online goals.

The beauty of Wix is that it's extremely easy to use and provides a quality experience for clients. The monthly rates are a little high, but since she was selling her albuma dn other merchandise, it was actually quite economical. Again I recommend getting her album which is available on her site as well as CD-Baby.
