This project was created when a client of mine approached me about doing a clickfunnel website. ClickFunnels are targeted web portals which are the equivalent of an internet infomercial for sales.
The idea was to make a focused sales channel offering a free PDF download called "Secrets Of Residual Income" in exchange for an email address lead.
The client wanted to use the ClickFunnel strategy, which is robust, precise and compelling. The problem was that the ClickFunnel Development environment (IDE) was too difficult for the client to master. After attempting to assist the client using the ClickFunnels IDE, I concluded that it was a bit outdated and was not as robust as other IDEs. As such I began tutoring my cient in the use of Wix.com and the client never looked back.
As I have previously indicated, some may say that using platforms like Weebly, Wix and WordPress is cheating, when it comes to web development, but given the requirements and the steep learning curve of platforms like ClickFunnels, the client found it much more palateable and using Wix cut the development time by 50-70% at least. Not to mention Wix is a far more advanced platform than ClickFunnels. However, I will say that the ClickFunnels strategy is extremely focused in it's methodology, but because of the deficiencies in the Development environment, the client abandoned the ClickFunnel Environment and had me craft his message using the Wix platform.
As mentioned, this was a prototype development site created in Wix to assist the client in making a ClickFunnel like web presentation.
The first steps were to create a free PDF download which would be used to obtain an email address for later sales follow-up. This was done through the use of public domain images from unsplash.com, pixabay.com and pxhere.com. The client supplied the textual copy and I began working on the layout and design via Zoom teleconferencing.
In developing the PDF, I used Apple Pages to create the layout, structure and final output with the client. The client was able to follow along at crucial design decisions via zoom.us - which allows computer users to share their screens with other computer users via the internet. The final result was a beautifully crafted PDF which allowed the client to control the development process in tandem with me, the designer. This cut down on revisions and proofs, as the client was involved at every major step of the process. This strategy ensured that the client had complete control over the project.
In essence I was the pilot and the client was the navigator. Even though we were separated by over 60 miles, we were able to teleconference and screen share, which allowed for an extremely relaxed working arrangement for both of us.
After developing the free PDF download, we moved onto the website delivery component of the project. After determining that the ClickFunnel Development environment was too limiting as far as a web development environment was concerned, we switched over to the WIX.com IDE and began porting over much of the PDF's sales message into an appropriate Wix template.
As with the development of the PDF, the client was able to exert a level of control which was unprecedented for their needs. It allowed them granular control and assist in the fine-tuning and styling of the website design process.
The PDF took over 2 months to develop, but the Wix site took only 10-12 days. Needless to say, the client was exceedingly pleased, as it allowed him the opportunity to learn as we as edit and contribute to the production. And the client was so pleased that he commissioned me to create two more sites just like this one.
